Carine Watch: White and Black
zimbio.com
We've seen those Alaia lace-ups quite a few times on Carine, and they always look amazing. I love it when she pairs them with all white to give that perfectly edgy contrast. Check out my post from back in February about their many personalities.

Mid-Summer Perfection in Barcelona
I came across this image on Trendycrew and think that Davinia's look is just perfection. I love the slightly uneven, primary colored layers in the Manuel Bolaño dress that give it fullness so that it hits perfectly, a little long, just below the knee. It is also a touch loose so that it hangs on her in just the right way. I love the scrunched down nude tone socks and the (also) Manuel Bolaño lace-up wedges that give the look a more masculine edge and balanced feel. And the long pendant and round-rim sunglasses are the perfect accessories. Thank you Davinia for a little mid-summer, Barcelonian inspiration!

V Magazine's Scratch Off Covers
With the "it" girls, the Beastie Boys, limited editions and scratch off covers (scratch off the 'V' to reveal the privates?), V magazine goes viral with this video promo for their "Sexy Body Issue". Got my attention.

German Vogue's Tribal Mix
Obsessed with this tribal, pattern-mixing editorial for Vogue Germany's July issue. The mixture and contrast of florals and polka dots and geometric prints with sequins and tulle and fringe, and the bold tribal paints and designs and gorgeous thick braids, all come together under the perfect lighting to create a stunning spread. Inspiration. Love.

Hakaan with the Ultimate Seal of Approval
When a panel consisting of Carine Roitfeld, Alber Elbaz, M. Pierre Bergè and LVMH's Delphine Arnault (among other major fashion players) awards you with £220,000 to show your collection in Paris and open a French headquarters for your label, you must feel like the fashion gods have finally shown down on you. And we, as fervent and dedicated followers of fashion, should take notice.
Last week, Turkish-born designer-on-the-rise, Hakaan Yildirim was awarded with such honors from ANDAM (France's National Association for the Development of Fashion Arts), beating out the likes of London's Mark Fast, ex-Nina Ricci designer, Calla Haynes and ex-Balenciaga designer, Bouchra Jarrar. Past fashion superstars to receive the coveted annual award have included Martin Margiela in 1998 and Viktor & Rolf in 1994.
I guess we should have known when Carine made the trip to London for Hakaan's debut show back in February that he was on the rise, in a major way. Carine and Kate Moss, also front row at the show, both nodded, or applauded, or something, which is apparently a big deal.
You can check out my post from a few weeks back with Fei Fei Sun in Hakaan in V Magazine and below is Lara Stone and Natalia Vodianova (who both walked in Hakaan's show in February) wearing Hakaan for i-D Magazine's June '10 issue.
