Carine Watch: White

Carine Roitfeld shows us her effortless casual with these anti-skinny bell bottoms in super crisp white (hemmed to a T, obviously) and paired with a tucked and messily sleeve rolled button down. Add a little gold bling with the pendant necklace and bracelet and you have Parisian street chic à la Carine.

Want It: Whites

Summer Whites

From the RM by Roland Mouret L.W.D. (5) to the oversized Cynthia Vincent tote (6) and Emmanuelle Khanh vintage sunnies (1), these summer staples are all whited-out. Keep it fresh and modern in the 3.1 Phillip Lim skirt (7), make a subtle statement with the Stephen Webster ring (3) or bring the wow factor to any outfit with the Giuseppe Zanotti sandal (2) or Jil Sander wooden wedge (4).

Futuristic Robot Barbie

images: forums.thefashionspot.com

And I kind of love it. The eerie lighting and surreal tone intrigue, and the bronzie-metallic skin, mannequin-like postures and robotic expressions feel distant but play up the clothes and minimal accessories. Spread titled "Summer" for Amica, July 2010, styled by Darryl Rodrigues and photographed by Jean-Francois Lepage. Something like if futuristic, robot Barbie were to have a summer wardrobe.

The Other Summer

When we think of summer, we think of beaches and tropical islands and clear blue water, but this editorial in the June 2010 issue of Harper's Bazaar UK shows us a different version of summer, a hot, secluded and mysterious sort of summer spent in the über dry heat of the desert and surrounded by gorgeously smooth rock formations and tumbleweed dotted planes. Stylist Mattias Karlsson and photographer Laurie Bartley create a sexy heat wave of swimwear fashion where a neutral palette of one-pieces and bikinis are the only way and impromptu outdoor showers a necessity. Southern Utah is looking a whole lot more appealing.

Harper's UK at Amangiri

Harper's Bazaar UK showed us a sizzling summer spread of swimsuits, expansive desert views and a peek into high living at Amangiri, a remote luxury resort in Southern Utah. The clean, modern architecture and minimalist aesthetic lures us in with private suites, outdoor showers and a mouth-wateringly refreshing pool. The pictures of this opulent desert oasis definitely make me think I wouldn't mind staying in the desert for a week or two.

Tee-Off

Vogue Nippon July 2010
images: models.com

I'm not a golfer and I don't really watch golf (although I did know who Tiger Woods was prior to his drunken Thanksgiving car incident), but there was something about this spread that caught my eye. There is a certain mood to it that I can't exactly pinpoint and a pretty, almost surreal quality to the light. The styling is simple but very effective with neutral shades of high-waisted shorts and tightly fitted tops that have a sporty-but-chic feel. I love her curly-frizzy hair and I am definitely into the big plastic visor thing.

Alana Zimmer for Black

images: fashiongonerogue.com

New Zealand-based magazine, Black, featured Canadian beauty, Alana Zimmer in this stunning black and white spread for their May 2010 issue. Bold accessories, and a lot of them, layered over the basics - a white T, jean jacket, mesh tank - made for some gorgeous visuals that I couldn't stop staring at. Styling by Elizabeth Sulcer and photography by Michael Schwartz.

Balmain

I know it's already time for Resort '11, but I thought looking back with a little Balmain S/S '10 recap would help us to start looking forward. Still loving the collection as much as when I saw it back in October, but definitely adoring those pants even more.

Karl's Faces of Claudia

images: models.com

Stirring up some controversy, German design quarterly, Stern Fotografie, featured six different covers of Claudia Schiffer photographed by fellow German, Karl Lagerfeld. Claudia has been a long time muse of Lagerfeld's, and the images selected are said to be some of Lagerfeld's favorites, but the controversy comes with the cover of Claudia wearing dark foundation and an afro wig. A spokesman reports that the images are meant to reflect mens' different fantasies (if I were one to offend easily, may point out the objectification of women inherent in this, but that would be a different article) and was in no way meant to offend. To me, a large part of fashion is about fantasy and role-play and imagination, but maybe this is pushing the boundary a little too far...or maybe not.

Fei Fei in Leather

images: models.com

Chinese model, Fei Fei Sun looks stunning, photographed by Cunyet Akeroglu for V Magazine's May '10 issue. She definitely makes us take equal notice of her, and her in the stretch leather pants and mini dress, both by up-and-coming Turkish designer, Hakaan, for the ideal model-hotness-to-appealing-edgy-leather ratio.

Marni Stripes, Jil Sander Cut-Outs and Pucci Fringe

Tagged: Stripes

Starting with the stripped Marni blazer was easy because it is so versatile. It can go from daytime topper to short shorts and a wedge, to super casual over boyfriend jeans and a flat, but pairing it with the draped Topshop dress, keeps it light, feminine and summery. The laser cut Jil Sander shoe, Emilio Pucci fringe bag and Kenneth Jay Lane stone necklace add some texture, interest and edge, just the way I like it.
