Hakaan with the Ultimate Seal of Approval

When a panel consisting of Carine Roitfeld, Alber Elbaz, M. Pierre Bergè and LVMH's Delphine Arnault (among other major fashion players) awards you with £220,000 to show your collection in Paris and open a French headquarters for your label, you must feel like the fashion gods have finally shown down on you. And we, as fervent and dedicated followers of fashion, should take notice.

Last week, Turkish-born designer-on-the-rise, Hakaan Yildirim was awarded with such honors from ANDAM (France's National Association for the Development of Fashion Arts), beating out the likes of London's Mark Fast, ex-Nina Ricci designer, Calla Haynes and ex-Balenciaga designer, Bouchra Jarrar. Past fashion superstars to receive the coveted annual award have included Martin Margiela in 1998 and Viktor & Rolf in 1994.

I guess we should have known when Carine made the trip to London for Hakaan's debut show back in February that he was on the rise, in a major way. Carine and Kate Moss, also front row at the show, both nodded, or applauded, or something, which is apparently a big deal.

You can check out my post from a few weeks back with Fei Fei Sun in Hakaan in V Magazine and below is Lara Stone and Natalia Vodianova (who both walked in Hakaan's show in February) wearing Hakaan for i-D Magazine's June '10 issue.
